DHSc Student’s Collaborative Research Recognized in Dermatology Journal

A literature review on vitiligo pathogenesis
 Archana Sangha

A recent publication in the Journal of Dermatology for PAs has garnered notable attention, receiving nearly 1,000 full-text views within its first four months. The article’s success reflects the collaborative efforts of DHSc student Archana Sangha, MMS, PA-C, and her co-authors to write a concise and appealing summary.

Titled “Understanding the Mechanism of Disease of Vitiligo and the Impact on Clinical Management,” the article was co-authored by Sangha alongside Jameka McElroy, MSPAS, PA-C; Robert Casquejo, PA-C; Henry Yu, PA-C; Janel Torsiello, PharmD; and Laura Bush, DMSc, PA-C, DFAAPA. The team aimed to provide a clear and accessible summary of current literature on vitiligo pathogenesis and treatment approaches, with the goal of supporting dermatology health care providers in clinical decision-making and client education.

During her second year in the DHSc program, Sangha worked closely with faculty mentor Lisa Paganotti, PhD, PA-C, to refine her research summary. Their collaboration focused on simplifying complex concepts using plain language, which helped make the article more approachable and widely read.

Dr. Paganotti, along with Michelle Rumble, DNP, RN, MPH, and Patricia Goldblatt, MD, serves as a faculty mentor in the Health Professions Practicum I and II courses. Together, they guide students in applying principles of educational and clinical leadership within their professional practice settings.
