Biography
Dr. Maring serves as the Executive Associate Dean for Health Sciences at The George Washington University. She teaches course content in her areas of expertise. Dr. Maring has received multiple teaching awards throughout her academic career. She is an active participant in national professional organizations and an on-site reviewer for the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.
Dr. Maring has an extensive clinical background in physical therapy management of pediatric populations and adults with neurological dysfunction. In conjunction with her research interest, she continues to perform physical therapy evaluations for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Her grant funding is aligned with her interest in the scholarship of teaching and learning as well as her dedication to improving the health and wellness of persons with developmental disabilities.
Research
Dr. Maring’s research interests, publications, and presentations encompass three primary areas. She is engaged in the scholarship of teaching and learning with a focus on factors that predict educational outcomes. Consistent with her clinical expertise, she conducts research related to the examination of motor control dysfunction in a variety of populations with movement disorders secondary to neurological impairments. She is also engaged in research that considers the examination and intervention of health and wellness in persons with developmental disabilities.
