Marisa Birkmeier, PT, DPT, DHSc, was elected to the Nominating Committee for the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT). The American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT) is an organizational membership of U.S. Doctor of Physical Therapy programs dedicated to pursuing excellence in physical therapy education and is the principal voice representing academic physical therapy.
The ACAPT Nominating Committee consists of three members, existing to foster activities that maintain and promote a pool of nominees for elections each year to the Board of Directors and Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee presents the slate of candidates at the ACAPT annual meeting, where additional nominations from the floor are in order (acapt.org).
In reflecting on her experience in the leadership in clinical practice and education program, Birkmeier said, "I chose the GW Doctor of Health Sciences program to expand my knowledge and abilities to be an educational scholar, effective instructor, and leader in higher education."
