Leah Chambers New Role at Maryland Department of Health

Leah Chambers, DHSc, MHA, begins new role as Assistant Director within the Office of Long Term Services and Supports at the Maryland Department of Health.

"It's incredibly rewarding to land exactly where I wanted after graduation. I look forward to bringing my research and healthcare expertise to improve Long Term Services and Support and develop impactful policies for vulnerable populations in Maryland," said Dr. Chambers.

Within her new role, Dr. Chambers will lead initiatives for nursing facilities, hospice, and community-based care programs, and develop Medicaid policies for long-term care services, among other duties.

"I'm thrilled that Leah got the exact position she was aiming for, and she will definitely put her DHSc skills to good use," said assistant professor Lisa Paganotti, PhD, PA-C.

The Maryland Department of Health is the part of the state government that oversees public health with an aim to promote and improve the health and safety of all Marylanders through disease prevention, access to care, and community engagement.

"This is a great opportunity to influence practice and policy in an important area, and it aligned with her intended trajectory. Leah is well prepared for it, and I know she will do great," said professor Skip Gill, DSc, PT.
